Last year 9 of us made it to the top and what a view! Lets do it again!
Another walk through our lovely beech forests and is well worth the effort. It is approximately 6-7 hours return and a very good level of fitness is required. Warm clothing is definitely recommended along with food, water and of course a camera for all the amazing views we are going to get.
Bring plenty of water, food, snacks, and layers of clothing (including wet weather gear) as it can be cool under the canopy. Insect repellant is also a MUST for this walk!
TRANSPORTATION
What we normally do as we meet at James and Danny Place (https://maps.google.com/maps?q=37%20Edmond%20St.%20Woolston%20Christchurch%E2%80%8E%20%2C%208062%2C%20Christchurch) have a coffee and a bit of a natter then we organise the cars, both James and I can take about 10 people between us!
So you can start coming from 8 o’clock as that is when the coffee machine is on!
We need to get away no later than 8:30am so we can meet the others at the Oxford pub at 9:30am.
Otherwise you can meet us all at 9:30am at the West Hotel, Oxford. It’s the last building on your left on Main Street as you are heading west out of town.
Message us or text Danny on if you would like further details.
COST
If you could just give your driver $10 dollars (per person) this is for the return ride and helps keep it affordable for all.
PLEASE NOTE
Essential items to carry
• Water
• Food
• Warm clothing (even on hot days)
Anyone who does not come with the essential items listed above may be excluded from joining us that day. Thank you for understanding that this is for the safety of all participants.
Highly Recommended items to carry
• Wet weather gear
• Strong and suitable footwear. Trainers may be suitable on some walks but are often not suitable on mountain walks.
Although we encourage anyone to join in and beginners are certainly welcome, please be aware of the fitness level some walks require. If the word ‘Mt’ is in the title its up a mountain and may not be a good starting walk for beginners or people with lower fitness levels. If in doubt start with one of our easier walks and work your way up.
