Duration of walk: Variety of options including walking to Maori Rock drawings. Full loop approx 2-3 hours.
How to get there: Starts opposite the Waikari village walkway on Princes Street
Intensity: All flat terrain and easy walking, but longish if you do the whole loop.
Description of walk: A picturesque walkway that follows the old rail line overlooking rolling paddocks which will hopefully be full of lambs this time of year.
Across the road from the village walkway on Princes Street you will find the start of the track. It leads through some of the old rail line and in the second part along country roads. Stunning views along the way amongst real country life is well worth the effort. Stunning views of the mountains are guaranteed.
Bring plenty of water, snacks, and layers of clothing as it can be cool. Insect repellant is also a MUST for this walk!
TRANSPORTATION
What we normally do as we meet at James and Danny Place have a coffee and a bit of a natter then we organise the cars, both James and I can take about 10 people between us! It is a good idea to text Danny telling him you will need transport ()
COST
If you could just give your driver $10 dollars (per person) this is for the return ride and helps keep it affordable for all.
So you can start coming from 8:30 o’clock as that is when the coffee machine is on! We get away sharply by 9 o’clock so we can meet the others at the at Pukeko Junction Cafe at 9:45am – 10:00am.
Message us or text Danny on if you would like further details 🙂
