Plan Not to Waste your Time

Maree Bryant - Potential UnltdWhen you waste time, you are wasting your life. If you fail to organise time, you defeat your ability to be successful.

Success in life and the organisation of time are synonymous.

Time organisation, then, is a tremendously important element to success.

Time is the primary resource available to you for achieving what you want in life. Your talents and abilities are useless until you spend time developing them and applying them to actions required to reach your chosen goals. The knowledge and skills you acquire in school and through personal study do nothing for you until you invest your time in putting them to work.

  • Do you ever feel pressured by a long list of things to do in a short period of time?
  • Do you ever spend valuable time talking about a project only to find out you were talking to the wrong person?
  • Do you ever drive around the city looking for an address which you haven’t bothered to locate on a city map or not bought a GPS yet?
  • Do you ever lose sales because your schedule forced you to rush through a 30-minute presentation in 10 minutes?
  • Do you ever discover in the middle of a report, a meeting, or a speech that some crucial piece of material you needed has been left on your desk?
  • Do you ever wait a long time to see someone who finally comes out and says, “I’m sorry, I cannot see you. Please come back another day.”
  • Do you ever make back-to-back appointments so far apart geographically that you cannot possibly make the second one without being completely frazzled when you arrive?

Having a time management and planning process is essential to gaining control over your valueable time.  You need to spend time finding out what really your High Priority activities are verus the less important things and those that you can delegate to others.

You too can be time smart!

Did you know that finding an extra 30 minutes per day is equivalent to finding an extra 22 eight-hour days per year? That’s equal to an entire month of effective work time!

What would you do … with one extra hour per day? … with an extra months per year?

PLANNING….PLANNING…….PLANNING………For every minute you spend planning, you save four to ten times that amount of time in execution!

About the Author:

Danny de Hek
Like most people, I have many passions, goals and dreams. As a self made business professional, my focus is helping my clients, associates and friends, build, strengthen and maintain their success. It would be fair to say I am in the full time business of building relationships and feel my purpose and skill is connecting the right people with the right people. My professional work tends to dominate my personal life, to the horror of my friends and business mentor. They fully support me yet give me the hard truths when I need to hear this. I am always investing in my personal development to have a fulfilled work/life balance. I enjoy Target Shooting, Hiking & Mountain Biking to clear the brain and to take the guilt away when indulging at a quirky cafe for a cooked breakfast or brunch. My passion for travelling has seen me experience the world on many occasions, my next adventure will be doing the Tibet Rail Journey on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway from Lhasa to Golmud as long as they have Wi-Fi aboard. I have many goals I still wish to achieve but am pretty chuffed that I have accomplished so many of these already.
