What does a Registered Financial Adviser do?

Maria Thackwell - Maria Thackwell Mortgage-CompanyA new year is always a good time for a refresher and one of our greatest challenges is educating the public why to use our services and what the benefits are.

Firstly we don’t just advise on Home Loans but all of the following;

  • Investment property finance

  • Business loans

  • Top up’s on existing loans

  • Re-structures and re-fixes

  • Personal loans

  • Home Loans

Our service is FREE as we are paid by the lenders. There are NO hidden costs or charges, our cost is not built into your interest rate AND we can generally obtain greater discounts as we are driving competition between the lenders acting on your behalf.

Banks know that we will take our clients elsewhere if the best deal is not offered where as statistics say that those who approach their own bank direct for approval are less likely to do this!

Getting advice from a Registered Adviser ensures objective advice is given as we work for our clients and not for the banks meaning we are not offering only one product line. We can offer the banks products as solutions to our clients but will look at each and every situation on it’s own merits and advise on bank products, policy and pricing and what best fits each clients personal financial situation.

Banks are not created equal!

The lending market is ever changing. Where one bank won’t lend, another just may as just like any business they are assessing their risk and pulling back and opening up based on their current risk profile. If their book is heavily weighted in apartment securities for example, a bank may pull back on lending for these purchases for awhile.

We often see declines turned into approvals elsewhere and getting it right first time is more important than you think too!

If you shop around yourself, every lender that does an enquiry on your credit history decreases your credit score, so regardless of whether you take the finance up, shopping around can actually worsen your credit score and be the thing that tips an approval to a decline.

FIRST TIME approval is our motto!
